Strongly Electron-Correlated Semimetal RuI3 with a Layered Honeycomb Structure

چکیده
A polymorph of RuI$_3$ synthesized under high pressure was found to have a two-layered honeycomb structure. The resistivity exhibits semimetallic behavior, in contrast insulating properties $\alpha$-RuCl$_3$. In addition, Pauli paramagnetic behavior observed the temperature dependence magnetic susceptibility and nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/$T_1$. band structure calculations indicate that contribution I 5$p$ components low-energy $t_\mathrm{2g}$ bands effectively decreases Coulomb repulsion, leading properties. physical also suggest strong electron correlations RuI$_3$.

Quadratic Fermi node in a 3D strongly correlated semimetal
Strong spin-orbit coupling fosters exotic electronic states such as topological insulators and superconductors, but the combination of strong spin-orbit and strong electron-electron interactions is just beginning to be understood. Central to this emerging area are the 5d transition metal iridium oxides. Here, in the pyrochlore iridate Pr2Ir2O7, we identify a non-trivial state with a single-poin...
متن کاملTungsten Ditelluride: a layered semimetal
Tungsten ditelluride (WTe2) is a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) with physical and electronic properties that make it attractive for a variety of electronic applications. Although WTe2 has been studied for decades, its structure and electronic properties have only recently been correctly described. We experimentally and theoretically investigate the structure, dynamics and electronic prop...
